Food time! Eating your way to the body you want.

Getting into bodybuilding is fun, and healthy. Some to it for strength, others do it for exercise, while others still, do it in the hopes of getting that coveted six-pack and beach body they’ve always wanted.

Beginners who jump into the gym have been known to have the mindset of “I’ll lift this and get bigger!” or “ I’ll do this and become leaner”, and things of that nature. Of course, being that they just started training, body improvements known as “beginner’s gains” or “beginners cuts” will start to show. This can make any beginner jump for joy, but also mislead them into thinking that bodybuilding is all about the gym work.

IT ISN’T!!

I firmly believe that once the “beginner’s improvements” fade out, getting desired results such as “cuts” or “gains” can be made in the kitchen more that the gym. Don’t get me wrong, gym work is very important in improving your physique, but more important is the nutrition you provide your body while working on it. Seasoned bodybuilders will tell you that most gains are made in the kitchen more so than the gym.

Here’s the general rule, your 100% effort can be broken into 25% weight work and training, 40% nutrition and 35% rest and sleep. That’s a big 40%. You need to get your nutrition in check in order to lock down that big chunk of your effort. Oh, and for those who think supplementation is the way to go, notice I didn’t include it in your hundred percent effort. That’s because you can get where you need to be without them. If I had to give them a percentage value, it would be at 10%, so that you could “give a 110%” effort, so to speak.

As previously stressed, food and nutrition in general is the way to go. Weight-work will make your muscles stronger, training will burn more calories, and sleep will help with recovery, but PROPER nutrition is what will pack on that muscle, get rid of fat, and recover your muscles from hard training. The food you eat must equate your effort with the iron.

Get your nutrition in check, and results will rain down on you like mana from the sky. Proper control of your nutrition is tantamount to proper control of your body composition and improvement. I've been lifting for quite sometime, and didn't see any significant improvemet in my overall physique, until I learned this fact the hard way, applied it to myself and watched the improvement skyrocket! my clients know this fact also, If you help, feel free to ask.
